Silvia’s Story

Silvia reached out to me frustrated and demoralised.

She was frustrated that her body shape was not changing, no matter what she tried.

Silvia did 5/6 Crossfit sessions a week and had seen some fantastic strength goals.

However, she really struggled to see any changes in her body shape.

Silvia has always been a really strong woman; however, she suffered a little with her confidence regarding her body shape.

The problem Silvia had was that she didn’t know how to adjust her calorie intake to align with her hormones and energy levels.

She had been in and out of tracking calories but had stuck to the same calorie intake for a long time.

One of the first things I coached Silvia on was how different phases of the menstrual cycle affects hormones, which in turn can affect appetite, mood and energy, for example.

She immediately had a light bulb moment as she now understood why her strength and energy levels always dropped around the same time each month.

So, what we did was simply give Silvia a relatively large calorie deficit when she felt good and highly motivated.

However, we then simply increased her calories when she felt like she had lower energy, motivation and willpower.

When she felt energised and motivation, she was able to stick to her larger calorie deficit.

But when she felt more sh*tty for some weeks throughout the month, the increased food and flexibility massively helped.

The result?

Consistency.

Silvia didn’t fall off the wagon, nor did she feel too overwhelmed.

Whereas before, she would stop tracking calories when she had lower energy weeks as she ended up feeling overwhelmed at the thought of having to track food.

This consistency is what produced the body composition results you see in the pictures above!
