Hugo’s Story

“I was Living in Leeds, working in an office 9-5, not exercising enough/eating well, feeling pretty lethargic and low on energy, felt I needed a drastic change in lifestyle to improve both my mental and physical wellbeing.

Since working with Toby I have seen a dramatic change through loss of fat , feeling far fitter and energised which is evident when I play football, as well as my physical health I feel far better mentally and much more positive about day to day life. I also feel far more confident/comfortable in a gym environment not worrying about those around me and really getting stuck into the exercises.

Hugo had unintentionally adopted a lifestyle that resulted in a lot of weight gain which had negatively impacted his overall wellbeing.

Hugo found himself:

👉🏼 Sedentary for long periods of the day

👉🏼 Snacking late at night

👉🏼 Not sleeping well

👉🏼 Relying on caffeine for alertness

This resulted in Hugo feeling:

😩 Lethargic

😩 Low moods

😩 Low in energy

😩 Low in confidence from the weight gain

Unlike the majority of online coaches out there, I didn’t mention the words ‘calories’, ‘macro’ or ‘myfitnesspal’ to Hugo for the first 8 weeks of our journey together.

Coaches are very quick to get people tracking calories without addressing the fundamental issues of someone’s lifestyle.

So, rather than just setting Hugo a calorie target, we first looked at improving his overall wellbeing.

We swapped out late evening caffeinated coffees and teas to decafs and adopted an 10-12 hour eating window.

We also set up mini habits to help Hugo relax before bed.

These adjustments transformed Hugo’s sleep and eliminated his subconscious late evening snacking.

And guess what happened?

😀 Hugo’s mood increased

😀 Energy increased

😀 Motivation increased

We used this extra boost to get Hugo resistance training.

Week on week Hugo tried to improve on his performance in the gym by logging his reps and weights on my personalised training plan google sheet.

Along with video feedback from myself on his form, this created a winning formula.

Whilst Hugo’s high activity levels drove his dramatic weight loss, the resistance training gave Hugo the “toned” look, as you can see.

So, hopefully you know by now, it is more than just simply giving people a calorie and protein target.
